Appointment to the Editorial Board of the IEEE Journal of Indoor and Seamless Positioning and Navigation (J-ISPIN) is made by the Editor-in-Chief in consultation with the Associate Editor-in-Chief and other senior editorial board members and is subject to the approval of the Steering Committee members. Candidates for appointment may be nominated by current Editorial Board members or may nominate themselves.

Eligibility and nomination process
  1. Nomination by current editors: Candidates may be nominated by one or more members of the current editorial team. Endorsements from current editors may increase the likelihood of appointment.
  2. Self-nomination: Candidates may submit their own application. Self-nominations should be directed to the Editor-in-Chief (EiC) and Associate Editor-in-Chief (AEiC).
Application requirements
  1. Short CV – Emphasize your research skills, publication history and previous editorial experience. Highlight relevant work in positioning, navigation and related areas.
  2. Cover letter (up to 2 pages) – Outline your experience relevant to the essential and desirable criteria listed below and express your motivation for joining the editorial board.
  3. A table in the form of a checklist with a self-assessment of the most important essential and desirable skills for contributing as an editor of IEEE J-ISPIN. The table can be downloaded here.

Essential and desirable skills for Editors
  •  Essential experience and skills
    • Publication of a substantial number of articles in J-ISPIN and related journals
    • Primary research in at least one of the journal’s main subject areas
    • Previous experience as a peer reviewer in related journals
    • Commitment to handling a minimum of 5 manuscripts per month in accordance with peer review deadlines
  • Desirable experience and skills
    • Previous editorial experience
    • Ability to cover multiple research categories as outlined by the journal’s expertise grid
    • Supervision of research teams or PhD/Master’s students in relevant areas
    • Demonstrated commitment to the success of J-ISPIN and related journals
    • Motivation to enhance the quality and productivity of the journal
    • Ability to contribute to special issues and editorial projects
